Novel CSA Treatments with M. Safwan Badr, MD
Central sleep apnea (CSA) and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) may have strong similarities with overlapping symptoms but have morphologic distinctions.
The overlapping symptoms include loud snoring, periods of stopping breathing during sleep, gasping for air during sleep, awakening with a dry mouth, morning headache, insomnia, difficulty paying attention while awake, and irritability.
Like for OSA, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is CSA’s first-line treatment, although it only 50% effective for CSA patients and 95% effective for OSA patients. In an interview with HCPLive, M. Safwan Badr, MD, from Wayne State University, explained CSA treatments are often repurposed from OSA treatments since many CSA patients also have OSA.
Novel treatments for CSA include phrenic nerve stimulation and pharmacological therapy.
“I would envision that many future interventions will involve CPAP plus another intervention CPAP plus oxygen CPAP plus a medication because if we correct the central apnea, but leave the obstructive apnea untouched, we haven't helped you,” Badr said.

all anyone ever hears about opiods is addiction. you can't search them up online without literally all the results being hysterical, extreme and over the top addiction narratives. never and I mean never are we ever told about pain patients and how this is the literal only class of medicine available that's really effective for pain. or should I go over the objective abuse of prescribing gaba pentinoids, as if they are a universal cure all for everything. or maybe a benzo to calm the patient down and shut them up? or maybe lie and tell the patients some amitryptaline will reduce their pain? anyone in the medical field here? it's all so blatant and it's all so cruel and torturous. there is something profoundly psychopathic about the state of the medical field in the post modern west. things are very, very wrong. and this video was 10 years ago. how many of the few must bring this up? while the 99% is the hysteria of 'the opiod epidemic'. the data paints a different picture. prescribing of opiods rarely happens now. it's all went backwards. all the problem is of the black market heroin and fentanyl. the public is told nothing but lies.

While we are all excited about the release of new drugs, science needs to understand that putting schizophrenia and anhedonic conditions into remission requires a lot more than just “popping pills” as much as psychiatry would like to claim that this is how it works, it has never been how it works and remission in these instances is just so low for ppl. Popping a pill that is “slightly better or different than approprazole” just doesn’t cut it anymore. People deserve better clearer answers and better medicines that restore total function

Thank you for this. It is absolutely not as rare as thought. My family are the ground zero patients. One of the cousins was the first to have it identified in the 1950s. I have haf symptoms my entire life, And so many doctors and dentists would tell me that it didn't exist or it wasn't an issue or the things I'm experiencing had nothing to do with it. They look at you like it's your fault if you have weak muscles or weak bones or bad teeth. It has nothing to do at all with hygiene levels or how much you try, because there is no control over what is happening inside your body at the metabolic level. I am so happy to see that the topic has become more widespread and more and more doctors and dentists are learning of its existence. Broke my wrist yesterday after a simple trip and fall. It has 4-5 breaks. 😢

This should be the real question. What is the main problem? Why does the body attack itself and what is the reason? Maybe it will take 30 years for them to find this, maybe not, but psoriasis ruined 14 years of my life :( science Their men need to work harder and they need to find a solution.
